Diwali festival is also known as Deepawali. It’s the most famous Hindu festival in India.  Diwali is a five-day festival which begins on Dhanteras and ends on Bhaiya Dooj. This year Diwali festival falls on 19th October 2017 and Dhanteras falls on 17th October 2017. As Diwali is on the way so many people started searching Diwali WhatsApp status so that they can use that status on their Whats App profile.

This festival also called as “festival of lights” because on Diwali people decorate their houses, shops, workplaces and temples with lights. The reason behind this that according to Hindu mythology on this day Lord Ram returned to their Home Ayodhya after 14 years banishment. During this period Lord Ram killed Demon Ravana, king of Lanka.  When after so many years he returned to his home, people of Ayodhya expressed their happiness by lightening lamps and Diyas. They decorate Ayodhya with full of lights and welcome their Lord Ram.

One month before the arrival of Diwali people start cleaning their houses, shops, and temples. When the day comes people decorate their places with flowers, lights, and other decorative things. People visit markets and buy beautiful photos, hanging bells and decorate the house. People believe that at the night of the festival Lord Lakshmi visit the cleanest house.

Diwali festival has a tradition to exchange gifts with family and friends, distribute sweets among the children. Make beautiful Rangoli with different colors and decorate with diyas is also a tradition for many people. At the night of festival people worship Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha.

In India, many people celebrate this festival as their new year. Like for Marwari people, Diwali festival is a new year also, on the day of Diwali they start new accounts.  At the next day of Diwali, Gujarati people celebrate their New Year. Make traditional dishes at their home.

In amidst darkness of life, Diwali festival brings a hope. Diwali festival also spread over hate and violence. We lighten up diyas and lamps to overcome from the darkness of that night.
