How to register your MSME entity online for Udyog Aadhaar


What is Udyog Aadhaar?

Udyog Aadhaar is an online registration process for MSMEs to register themselves under MSMED Act, 2006, as an MSME unit. It has replaced the earlier cumbersome process of registration by filling Entrepreneurship Memorandum (EM) 1 and 2. The new universal (one that does not differ by states) online registration process is based on real-time Aadhaar number and OTP based authentication with Aadhaar database and then extracts identification and address data, from the entrepreneur’s data in Aadhaar’s records with UIDAI, for pre-population in the MSME Registration Online.

The Ministry for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) under the Government of India had in September’15 notified Udyog Aadhaar to simplify procedures for existing MSMEs to get registered in order to avail benefits of government schemes, subsidies and formal finance. MSME sector is the biggest job creator in recent years but due to the cumbersome process of MSME registration, a large number of MSMEs did not register for the same and missed out on many opportunities. What are the advantages of Udyog Aadhaar registration?

NSIC registration, Import export license can be issued on the basis of Udyog Aadhaar.

Registered MSMEs would be eligible for all government scheme benefits like loan without collateral, lower interest rates and easy access to formal finance.

Registered MSMEs can avail government subsidy, required for getting Mudra or Standup

Registered MSMEs can get financial support to participate in foreign expo.

One can file more than one Udyog Aadhaar with same Aadhaar number.

Is Aadhaar number mandatory for Udyog Aadhaar?

The Udyog Aadhaar Registration can be done online by individuals themselves in case they have an Aadhaar number. However, those not having Aadhaar number can file Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum in offline mode with the General Manager- District Industries center (GM-DIC).

In how much time is the certificate available?

The certificate will be available immediately after filling all the details. The report will be mailed on the registered email id.

Other than Udyog Aadhaar, in Maharashtra one also needs a license under Maharashtra Shop establishment act (commonly known as Gumatsa certificate) for proprietorship or partnership firms. Read here to know how to obtain Gumatsa license online.
